Jatuporn, full of energy, and Suchart, go to Nakhon Si Thammarat to solve the southern mangosteen problem, pushing the department store to buy 3 million kg.

"Chatuporn" and "Suchart" travel to Nakhon Si Thammarat to solve the problem of mangosteen prices in the South, pushing for department stores and pumps to purchase another 3,000 tons or 3 million kg to distribute outside the production area

Mr. Chatuporn Buruspat, Minister of Commerce, together with Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Deputy Minister of Commerce, led the Ministry of Commerce to visit Tambon Sa Kaeo, Amphoe Tha Sala, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province to organize an activity to connect fruits outside the production area. He revealed to the media that today, I am glad to visit the area of the orchard owners in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, where I had the opportunity to meet with mangosteen farmers to exchange ideas and jointly drive forward the management measures for southern fruits to achieve tangible results together

Mr. Chatuporn continued, “Today’s visit is to solve the problems of farmers, which is an urgent matter. This is the first mission since assuming the position of Minister of Commerce. Today is a short-term solution. The Department of Internal Trade has brought in large wholesale and retail businesses, gas stations, and Thailand Post to help purchase mangosteens in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, totaling more than 2,200 tons, to be distributed to various areas nationwide. As for the long-term solution, there will be discussions with the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to solve the problems in the entire system, from upstream, midstream, and downstream. He also confirmed that the mangosteen situation will improve within 2 weeks through the cooperation mechanism of all sectors, with the policy of “Thais make, Thais use, Thais help Thais.”

For the forecast of mangosteen production in the South, there is a volume of 109,697 tons, of which Nakhon Si Thammarat produces 40,063 tons. Currently, more than 40% of Nakhon Si Thammarat has entered the market. In order to support such production, the Ministry of Commerce, through the Department of Internal Trade, has a plan and measures to support the production in the South, totaling more than 64,000 tons, through important measures, such as connecting to the consumer market by purchasing from companies listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), which has a target purchase of more than 6,000 tons, the fruit consumption campaign activity Thai Fruit Festival 2025 and super cheap stores throughout the South, more than 2,000 tons, connecting southern mangosteens through retail and wholesale stores, totaling 6,000 tons, coordinating with exporters to accelerate the purchase of southern fruits in the area, targeting Nakhon Si Thammarat mangosteens of 300 tons per day, totaling more than 15,000 tons, increasing potential and promoting liquidity for collectors to purchase fruits for export, including durian and mangosteen, totaling 35,000 tons

Mr. Kornnit Nonjui, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, said about the connection that “Today, the Department of Internal Trade has implemented the order of the Minister of Commerce by bringing representatives of the private sector to visit the area to meet with farmers, including retail and wholesale stores to buy mangosteen products in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, divided into Makro, Lotus under CP Extra, 1,300 tons, Big C, 650 tons, Tops Supermarket, 130 tons, Go Wholesale, 40 tons, and The Mall, 80 tons. The total amount of mangosteen products in Nakhon Si Thammarat that entered the retail and wholesale mechanisms was 2,200 tons.”

Mr. Chatuporn said today's activities are part of the measures to distribute Nakhon Si Thammarat mangosteens to consumers. The mangosteen caravan will be launched by farmers from 4 community enterprise groups in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 3 districts: Phrom Khiri, Chawang, and Thasala, with 13 vehicles and a total of 40 tons of mangosteens worth 1,050,000 baht. This is just one of the measures of the Ministry of Commerce to help farmers in Nakhon Si Thammarat so that their fruits have distribution channels throughout the country.

“The most important thing now is cooperation in helping each other. As the Minister of Commerce, I will implement the policy of “Thais make, Thais use, Thais help Thais” to make it happen so that Thais can support and help each other to create stable income and bring smiles to every family. I believe that if we cooperate strongly, both the government sector, the private sector, and farmers, we will overcome all obstacles together,” concluded Mr. Jatuporn.
